2. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60 words.

(a) Are Pythagoras’ Theorem, and Newton’ s Law of Gravity important to all of us in our daily lives? Why do you think we all learn about them? Write your lesson in reference to chapter Father, Dear Father.

(b) “India is the world’s fifth largest producer of wind energy.” Elaborate the sentence by mentioning any two advantages of Wind energy.

3. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60 words.
(a) Thimmakka was a poor woman who found time to plant trees on the highway and look after them as if they were her own children thereby making her life purposeful and rendering service to the community and to the environment in general. Describe your views about Thimakka in your own words.

(b) “This young clerk never foresaw the turn of events that would lead him to become the manager of one of the world’s most glamorous hotels.” Who is the young clerk mentioned in the question? Which event changed his life?

4. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100 to 150 words.

(a) “A girl who had not heard the name of school or who did not know what a school was and who felt terrified to go to school developed attachment with the school.” Going to school was turning point in Bholi’s life. Elaborate the statement with examples from the story.

(b) B. “The concept of ”child servitude” implicitly excludes the domestic labour of girls, although this may be full-time work, detrimental to development, necessary for survival and equally inescapable.” What do you understand by child servitude? List the kinds of work/jobs that girls do (which is considered as child servitude).

5. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100 to 150 words.

(a) (i) A receptionist must possess a wide range of qualities and abilities. Mention some qualities that should be possessed by a receptionist and describe some aids required by a receptionist.
(ii) What is an emergency call? How can you make an emergency call? Write a conversation in your own words.

(b) You are Asheema/Ashish living in Delhi. You and your family are planning a holiday to Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and you come across an advertisement from’ Make my Trip’ regarding tour packages and hotels. Write a letter to the agent of Make my Trip’ making necessary enquiries from the tour company before you make your final decision.

6. Prepare any one project out of the following in about 500 words.

(a) (i) Imagine you are applying for a job in a MNC in Gurgaon, prepare a resume for the job. List all the requisite information in the resume.
(ii) Imagine you have to appear for a job interview in an IT firm and the interviewer asks the following questions. Frame the answers of the following questions in your own words.
• What can you tell me about yourself?
• Describe a time you made a mistake at work and how you overcame it.
• Why do you want to work for this company?
• Why should we hire you?
• What motivates you?
• What are your passions?
• How do you handle stress?

(b) Prepare a bio-sketch on Rabindranath Tagore. Collect the following information and write a biographical sketch on Tagore.

i) His Place of birth,
ii) His childhood days
iii) His education & hobbies
iv) His lifestyle
v) His principles in life.
vi) His achievements and works in life
vii) His views about education.
viii) When did he win the Noble Prize award for literature?
ix) What did Rabindranath Tagore write?
x) What awards did Rabindranath Tagore win?
